Ghost Stories

Filed under: My World, Paranormal — admin @ 6:37 pm

Have you ever seen a ghost? I’m not one for statistics, but I know that a great percentage of the world’s population claims to have encountered what they think is a ghost. I’ve had a couple of experiences over the years, but the latest was just a couple of months ago. My husband and I were sitting at the dining room table in my sister-in-law’s “new” old house in Tulsa. Everyone (Chet and I, Liz & a friend, and Liz’s son) was enjoying a congenial, relaxing dinner. I happened to look down the hallway toward the bedroom where we were staying that night and did a double take. Two shadowy figures were moving across the bedroom and out of sight. My first impression was of a man and a woman in old fashioned clothes. Okay….but that wasn’t all. As I sat there, debating whether or not to say something, the same two figures appeared in the living room to my right, as though they had moved through the walls, the art studio and its wall, and on into the living room. I didn’t move, didn’t speak, just watched them glide though the room and out of sight beyond the doorway. My sister-in-law claims she has never seen anything out of the ordinary in her house or felt anything unusual. No one else saw a thing, but then, no one else was looking where I was. Nothing disturbed my sleep that night, and I certainly didn’t feel negative about the experience. But I’m also sure of what I saw.

Okay, anyone else out there? Can you top my ghosts??? –Paula

  1. Just saying hi…and that its a great website, Paula.

Also, my son and I both saw a ghost in the attic bedroom of a caretakers house on an old plantation in Virginia that is now a State park. We were there at a family reunion and the house dated from the pre-civil war days in the 1800’s Other visitors had written in the guest book about seeing ghosts in the house. All of us scoffed at the writings.

We were asleep in the bedroom when we both sat bolt upright and wide awake at 3:00 a.m. There was a ghostly apparition sitting on a stool in the corner. It seemed to waver back and forth and then gently floated to the center of the attic wall and out a closed and locked window. Neither of us believed in ghosts before that moment but we had a great story to tell at breakfast that morning. Our credibility was not that great initially (we had been known to engage in trickery in the past) but the scene was so vivid that we finally convinced everyone of what we had seen. Plus, my son’s aunt in the adjacent bedroom had been awakened by footsteps on the stairs about the same time and no one was up walking around.

We obviously believed her without question.

  2. Thanks for telling me about your knowing ghosts are real. I think that country folks and open minded people believe because they are more aware of what is around them. We have globes of light here on Signal Hill. They are a fascinating phenomenon and are usually not seen by the naked eye but come up on photographs, especially from electronic cameras. There are dozens here. What they are we don’t know. The Crescent Hotel has many of them too, as well as our friends at the bottom of the hill.

  3. Hi Paula,
I am reading in your blog and find it quite exciting. I like your ghost story. My brother claims to have a ghost on his property in Shreveport, La. After him doing some researching, many years ago a man hung himself from a really big tree in his back yard (he lives way out in the boondocks) Billy calls this man Sam. Not long ago Billy was trying to cut one of the limbs off the tree when it came back and hit him in the face and knocked him out. When he woke up there was an ambulance at his house to check on him. He said he never made any phone calls plus the phone was in his house. He said he believes it was Sam. There have been people spend the night at his house and have said that they hear doors opening and closing during the night. Also, Billy’s grandson Hunter, has said that he has seen Sam, too. Billy tells them it is his friend Sam. Well, anyway there is my ghost story.
